In this series, we meet with seasoned professionals who have re-defined age. Let's meet Neeta Kothari from Mumbai who started her career at 51.

Briefly share with us with your background. Where you grew up and what your childhood was like
I am Neeta Kothari. I was born and brought up in Pune city, India. My childhood was happy and content.

How old are you now and what are you currently doing?
I am 53 years old and currently running franchise of The Belgian Waffle Company in Mumbai.

For the majority of your career, what would you say you have been doing?
I started my career at the age of 51. Before that I was a homemaker. I now juggle between my home and my business.

What would you describe as the proudest moment of your career?
My proudest moment was when I saw my dream coming true of opening a store. Now I am a proud owner of three stores running successfully.

What has been the turning point in your career that led you to explore other avenues?
The turning point in my life was making my dream come true and alive. I realised that you should be passionate about your dreams and your goals, only then you will reach to it.

When not at work, what brings you joy? Could be hobbies or passions in life? What do you most enjoy about them?
When not at work i enjoy being with my family and at home.

Does it bother you that you are now older? When does it bother you the most?
Age is just a number . I always believe if you are young in your heart and thoughts getting older shouldn’t bother you. When i started my career at the age of 51 i realised that be it
any age you should be determined to achieve what you want. Now i can enjoy my success.

What advice would you give to those who are older and exploring second careers?
The advise i would like to give is that just believe in your dreams and try to fulfil it be it any age. Life is beautiful and you get it only once . There are no retakes so make the most of it till you can.

What keeps you motivated to stay productive?
The purpose of my life changed after I started my own business. Though there were many hiccups along the way you should learn to strive and overcome your hurdles. I would suggest to all people my age is that if you started your career at a later stage after fulfilling all your duties you should go for it and enjoy to the fullest.
